There Truly is Peace in Christ

I know it's been a few weeks since I last posted, but I have been pondering this whole time about where we can find peace. We live in a world that is full of pain, suffering, contention, and many other trials. I personally have been struggling to find peace in such a heavy world. I have been going to the temple every week, and I have been trying to come closer to Christ. It has been a really big testimony builder for me. I have never felt as much peace as I have when I pray and go to the temple. I know that we truly can find peace in Christ.

One of my most favorite Book Of Mormon stories is the one about Alma the Younger. Alma the Younger had been struggling immensely. He was rebelling against his Father and the Church. The story talks about how Alma, his father, had been praying for him. Because of those prayers, an angel came down and told Alma the Younger to stop what he was doing. It was quite the shocking experience, and Alma the Younger was unconscious for three days. I especially love this part of the story. Alma the Younger is talking about what he remembered from the three days. He talks about the pain and anguish he felt. He said, "and never, until I did cry out unto the Lord Jesus Christ for mercy, did I receive a remission of my sins." I think it's so cool that he said that so boldly. It isn't until we reach out to Christ that we can have remission of our sins.

He finishes by saying, "But behold, I did cry unto him and I did find peace to my soul." (Alma 38:8) This brings so much comfort to me. It helps me know that regardless of the pain and suffering I am going through, if I cry unto Christ, I can find peace for my soul.

I have often wondered why they always chose to use the word remission when there are so many other words they could use. So I looked up the definition. Remission is forgiveness of sins. But that word has so much love that is behind it. Remission is also forgiveness of debt. Our debt to Jesus Christ is forgiven when we cry unto him. I know that he truly loves us. I love verse nine, so I included it. I love how it reiterates that Christ is the Life and Light of the world. I am so thankful for Jesus Christ.

I love this quote from Quentin L. Cook. I know that the Savior truly is the source of true peace. Even when we have trials, Christ makes all the difference.

I want to share my testimony of Jesus Christ with you. I know that He lives, and He is always stretching forth his hand to pull us from our darkest hours. He knows each of us personally and loves us so much. I know that we really can find peace in Christ. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We all have life plans. Some people's plans are more extreme than others. For example, my life plan is to serve a 2 year LDS mission...
