The Ultimate Fortification

Today I had the wonderful privilege to listen to Wesley Thacker give a talk in church. He is one of my best friends, and someone I consider a brother. He talked about faith and did an amazing job. After he gave his talk, I thought about it very deeply for a while. The definition of faith is as follows:
faith
/fāTH/ noun
a complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
a strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.
I love how it states it is a complete trust or confidence. If you have faith in someone or something, that is a trust that trumps all other forms of trust. In the title, I called Faith the Ultimate Fortification.
ul·ti·mate
/ˈəltəmət/ adjective
being or happening at the end of a process; final.
noun
the best achievable or imaginable of its kind.
a final or fundamental fact or principle.
for·ti·fi·ca·tionˌ
/fôrdəfəˈkāSH(ə)n/ noun
a defensive wall or other reinforcement built to strengthen a place against (an) attack (sure to come).
the action of fortifying or process of being fortified.
By definition, Ultimate means the best achievable or imaginable of its kind. In this post, I'm likening faith to Fortification. Faith is the best achievable or imaginable fortification we can have in these last days. In the definition for fortification, I added that the attacks are sure to come. If we don't have faith, we won't be prepared or fortified for the attacks of the adversary that will definitely come. Satan knows our potential, and that sickens him. He won't give up on anyone if they're trying to live the right way.
I know that we can and need to fortify ourselves against the attacks of the adversary. I know that the best or ultimate way to do that, is by having and gaining faith. With faith a testimony will come. If we have an unshakable testimony and unwavering faith, the adversary can tempt us nonstop, as he will, but we will be fortified and able to withstand the attacks.
The best way to come to this wonderful defense is through the power of the Atonement. The Atonement will always be there to strengthen and aid us. We can't do this alone, but the good news is, we don't have to. Nowhere in the scriptures does it say we are here to go through life alone. Life will surely be lonely at points, but we'll never truly be alone. We have the perfect Brother, Father, and Mother in Heaven giving everything they can to ensure we can make it home to them.
I know that if we pray for faith and search and acquire a strong testimony we can withstand the attacks from the adversary. We can feel the peace and love encircling us. Thank you so much for reading today. I appreciate it. Have a wonderful Sunday.
