The past few days I have been reading the book of Ether in the Book of Mormon. They are some of my favorite chapters in the Book of Mormon. One of my most favorite parts of the story of the Brother of Jared is in chapter four. Verses six and seven are:

They are so wonderful. It states that we are going to have many trials and terrible tempests in our life time. The winds are sure to be fierce and they are sure to return, but I just love what verse seven says. Even though they were buried in the deep, there was no water that could hurt them. If we build our vessels to get us through this life with the key components from the gospel, we can withstand the tempests that will come upon us. I love the part where it also says that when they were encompassed (surrounded) by many waters (trials) they did cry unto the Lord and He did bring them forth again upon the top of the waters. If we place our trust in Jesus Christ, He can raise us above the waters of life. Though they be treacherous, we are never beyond the reach of his loving hand. He loves us so much and is always willing to answer our prayers if we turn to him. I also want to talk about the part of the story when the Brother of Jared brings the rocks to the Lord. It is one of the greatest stories of faith even when it could be embarrassing.

The Brother of Jared prayed to the Lord because they needed light so they would not have to travel in darkness across the vast ocean. So the Lord answered his prayer, but not in the way he expected. He said, you find a way, and I'll make it work. This is such a great example of the Savior's loving grace too. If we do our best, the Savior will make it work.

So, continuing with the story, the Brother of Jared brings rocks to the Savior and tells Him the plan. He is worried the Savior will laugh or tell him how stupid the plan is, but because of the Brother of Jared's faith, the Savior made it work. The Brother of Jared also got to see the Savior because of his faith.

This story got me thinking. It is sure amazing that when we are weighed down with the rocks of the world, and we are surrounded by darkness. We have a loving Savior that can turn stones into light. He will not leave us alone in the darkness. He will not leave us alone in our tempests. Though they may be the hardest things we ever have to go through, we're never going to be alone.

Thank you so much for reading. Here are a few quotes that I absolutely love and have helped me when I was in need. Have a wonderful day.

Life Plans

We all have life plans. Some people's plans are more extreme than others. For example, my life plan is to serve a 2 year LDS mission...
